A culture chatbot for DEN: an interactive knowledge base with on-brand AI personas

For DEN we built an interactive culture-chatbot web app in which multiple AI personas, each with its own role, tone and scope, directly support cultural professionals, all drawing on a single centrally managed knowledge base. Fragmented information turns into accessible, consistent and on-brand conversations that don't just unlock knowledge, but make it practically applicable.

Situation

In the cultural sector, valuable knowledge is scattered across websites, toolkits, regulations and internal documents. The information exists, but it takes time to find, interpret and apply it to a concrete situation.

DEN, the knowledge institute for culture and digital transformation, wanted a different approach: not yet another page of text, but a place where knowledge comes to life in conversation.

Challenge

The project had a double ambition: a practical tool that helps cultural professionals with their questions directly, and at the same time an inspiring example for the sector.

The question was how to use AI to share knowledge in a human way, in your own style and branding, without it ending up as just another static information page.

Solution

We built a web app, a kind of 'assistant CMS', in which DEN can create multiple chat assistants, each with its own persona and topic focus. At the front end a visitor picks an assistant and starts a conversation straight away. At the back end the team quickly creates new personas, adds an extensive instruction prompt and manages all content in one central knowledge base.

Instead of one generic chatbot, DEN sets up an assistant per theme with its own role, language level, tone and behavioural rules. A powerful instruction prompt defines what the assistant does and doesn't do, how answers are structured and how the experience feels. This creates recognisable characters that build trust and keep conversations on track.

The knowledge base is the fixed basis for the answers, so the assistants don't just improvise but demonstrably rely on the knowledge DEN has gathered. The team can keep expanding, updating and refining that source itself, without depending on development.

Result

The result is an interactive way to unlock information: your own knowledge in one place, chatbots that use it as a fixed source, and around it a character that steers the interaction, sets the tone and defines the topics. That makes the knowledge not only more accessible but, above all, more usable. And that is something quite different from a FAQ page.

The web app is designed as a visitor-friendly experience in a recognisable, branded environment: pick an assistant, start a chat, done. The threshold to test and learn is low, so DEN could go live quickly with a first version. Expanding it afterwards is mainly a matter of creating new personas and filling the knowledge base.
